Sometimes it’s hard to chart a route in Hanoi because the streets are so small and windy. In fact we found a fun little bun place and it took us two more days to re-find it. I highly recommend taking a little jaunt around Hoan Kiem Lake, stopping and taking it in and then exploring the little areas around it that are filled with food and tea. This one is a bit of a loose guide but all things you could find in the area.
We love just walking along the streets of Hanoi so I wanted to share a few of my favorite snapshots throughout the day. If you stay until the end you also get to see my tea shop pick! Just kidding, it’s Tea Pub. You can check that out by clicking the link.
In a town full of great coffee, I was surprised to find out that everyone considers it a tea city. While the below is really not a good example of a Vietnamese traditional tea, it sure was delicious. When on our boat ride through Halong Bay though we were turned on to these small cubes of sweetened green beans that I thought tasted just like halva. The combination of those with bitter green tea is to date one of my favorite combos. We brought a bunch of the non-halva green tea cubes home and I don’t regret it one bit. If you’re looking for a stop by Hoan Kiem Lake though for a quick snack and tea (with air conditioning) then this is my pick for you.

Ben loved it, he had one more opportunity to take a photo like this in the world.
Great spots. Totally agreed on Hanoi too. I recall finding a cool place to eat. Then the next day, totally lost trying to find the spot again. The small, narrow, winding and flat out confusing road structure at points can confuse the heck out of ya in this charming city.
