As you may have noticed, I love a good hike. Unfortunately my go-to spot, and everyone else’s is Runyon Canyon. Runyon Canyon however is closed to the public for a while. Instead we opted for something closer to the Griffith Observatory.
But First, Coffee
I’d love to say we woke up and headed straight there but we lack the ability to fully exercise our motor skills without caffeine. Although out of the way from this hike I recommend Alfred Coffee as a good coffee start to the day. If you’re not feeling the caffeine, they also have branded coconuts which, I mean, how do you pass that up? It’s pretty much an Instagrammer’s dream come true.
Santa Monica Brunch Stop
If you’re still hungry I highly recommend Superba Food + Bread. We can’t say enough about the food, it was nice and simple and we were lucky enough to get seated right away. It’s too bad we were hot for a sit down brunch because the bakery side looked just as delicious. If you see a huge line and get there too late, grab some grub too go and take it on your hike!
And Then, They Hiked
After brainstorming a couple of options, we found a hike that suited our needs: something roughly under 3 miles and a bit sandy with great views. We had to be back at the airport later that day so we thought we’d keep it short and make sure we weren’t racing to the airport last minute. The hike is technically called Glendale Peak but is a bit of a choose your own adventure as you’ll ahve the option to do several loops.
