Day trips here are a thing and so are reasonably priced rental cars. Ben and I opted to combine these two wonders of the west coast and take off on a daytime excursion!
Having been Instagram blasted by the wondrous looking light house in Point Reyes we decided to take the hour and a half trip to see it. We made a quick pit stop in the last town before the light house -Point Reyes station. We grabbed a quick sandwich at our Ferry building favorite: Cowgirl Creamery. While this was definitely a cool stop and we spent a few minutes walking around the town, if you don’t have time to stop you won’t be missing much as the other outposts are good if not better for the creamery and the town is small with a few boutiques in it.
We made our way further into the woods, winding and winding until we came up to Saltwater Oyster Depot where I fully planned on stopping for a much needed caffeine fix. Our big regret was not stopping here for lunch. Whether you’re in it for a full oyster chow down or side bakery, it was such a nice stop we wanted to stay longer. Also make sure to run across the street to see the shipwreck.
After the shipwreck was the after party. No I’m kidding that’s just a bad song none of us will ever forget. After the shipwreck we made our way to the Pt. Reyes lighthouse. A word of caution, if you see other cars parked ont he side of the round you should absolutely park, bail and walk.
