Two flights, one crying baby and a sinus headache later, we landed in Syracuse, NY, home of Otto the Orange and melty Insomnia cookies. I should mention that Syracuse is my undergraduate Alma Mater and thus I love it and it’s affinity for eyeball searing Orange without a second thought. Though we made a pitstop through Syracuse, we were actually on our way to Ithaca for a wedding.
First we grabbed lunch in Syracuse. I have to say that when I was in school thought Phoebe’s was expensive so we didn’t go there that often. I was surprised to see that as an adult it really wasn’t…. Anyways, here are a few pictures to ease you into a hardy hike.
When in Ithaca, you gorge.
We, of course, had to see what Ithaca is most known for – it’s gorges. Below a few snaps from our rainy, mid-fall hike. If you’d like to try it yourself, here it is.
We stayed at La Tourelle, which as indicated is basically a medieval-like hamlet in the quiet town of Ithaca. There was glamping in the back so in hindsight we may have stayed there. Upon arrival, we scoured the gift bag for jelly beans and of course ate lots of snacks ahead of the rehearsal dinner.
[I forgot to take pictures, go me!]
So, if we’ve learned anything during our time here it’s the following:
1- Take a hike while in Ithaca
2- Downtown Ithaca has a cute farmer’s market you will miss on Saturdays if you move too slowly
3- Ithaca Ginger Beer.
