As the year winds down I find myself with a vacation day I must use before it expires. I mean c’mon how could I let that go? That, the unhappy coincidence of a group trip to the Poconos being cancelled and unexpected job switch by my fellow traveler meant I had days and a travel buddy. The stars aligned and it was time for a trip to Los Angeles.
Okay, alright back to the weekend. We landed at LAX around 1 AM PST and spent about an hour dealing with the car rental company which was both exhausting and hilarious.
We finally made our way into LA and to our airbnb rental. This was my first time Airbnb-ing and it was such a great experience! Pretty much I’d prefer never to stay in a hotel again.
Here is the link to our Airbnb pad + host. I highly recommend it.
When we woke up in the morning we decided to check out The Grove which was conveniently down the street. Although it does have some shops etc that you would see anywhere else, the real draw is the awesome Farmer’s Market. If I could go back and hoard finds I would buy tons of things from the hot sauce store AND the vintage store. Needless to say we got some donuts at Bob’s Donuts and they were delicious.
By this time a mutual friend and former London roommate, Kevin had called and we decided to meet him out at Venice Beach. Pretty much the best way to start any weekend is to go to the beach, you just can’t go wrong. So, we checked out a little bit of the Walk of Fame/Hollywood area and made our way out there.
After a long day, we went back to “our apartment”. We came back out sans camera aka any photographic evidence of this…. Grabbed some dinner in Venice Beach – if you are ever there (I approve) and hit up a bar where I promptly dropped my wallet and searched frantically for it. Then, we caught Kevin’s roommate’s show and headed home for the night.
Day 2: The Hills
It was a good more food of course. We grabbed some burgers and headed out to Runyon Canyon to work in a hike. I’ll let the pics speak for themselves.
Day 3-5: Sports Bars, Korean BBQ and a Reunion
The last few days got busy, I quit taking pictures in order and honestly I’ve decided I like having a few just for me 🙂 We caught a game at a sports bar, grabbed some Korean BBQ with Kevin, caught up with my friend Erik from my masters at Tito’s Tacos and had some giant pancakes.
