Exactly one weekend post moving, i.e not ever having spent a full weekend in our new place – Patrice and I made plans to go to Vegas with our girlfriends. Oh and by the way, Patrice is now my roommate. In the lull since the last time I blogged I’ve been getting a bit rusty but I’m hoping to start posting more frequently.
So here was the plan. Patrice and I would take off early Saturday morning with her high school friend Janine (or if you work at JFK – Janini like Panini) where we would meet up with our other ‘cuse friend Natalie. It was a reunion and girls weekend wrapped into one. We also had the good luck of picking a weekend when a mutual guy group of friends would be in town so we’d have people we knew to meet up with at night.
It was my first time flying Virgin Air and I have to say, definitely in my favorite airlines, let me list the reasons why:
1- TV was not $5.99 for the excruciating 5 hr flight
2- There was decent Method soap in the bathrooms
3- Good Lighting
4- Good Music
5- Edible food
We basically made it straight from the plane to the pool, we couldn’t even wait for Natalie to arrive before our pre-tan. I have to say as a NY-er that is currently experiencing a 45 degree April….. this was much needed sun time.
I definitely regret not taking pics of the lobby but here are a few of us in our room. We ended up getting it for about $50 each per night with a great $75 food/beverage credit that we of course forgot up to about an hour until their expiration.
At this point Natalie had rejoined us and after an afternoon of laying by the pool and the three of us girls going in search for something we decided to do what world travelers do… and eat at a restaurant we have in NYC. Turns out the Sea thai restaurant at Bally’s in Las Vegas however is double the price of the one in Brooklyn. That being said – Patrice enjoyed her surprise birthday dessert, after we were accidentally told by the waiter it was on it’s way.
Then it was time to go out…
We made our way to Marquee in our fashionably late fashion and met up with the boys for some dancing. Several hours worth of adventures later, we made it back to our comfy beds, heels in hand of course.
I’m not sure why but Patrice and I of course were up at 9 am AKA the crack of dawn – probably still running on NY news time. We got ourselves a croissant and explored the strip.
DISCLAIMER: At this point, I started forgetting to take photos places because I am extremely lazy and rarely take vacations
We got back in time to wake up our sleepy head friends and despite an attempt at a pool party, far, far away – we ended at one close by. We brokered ourselves some pool side lounge chairs and I managed to stay awake through some delicious food and more tanning. Also some “Easter” bunnies.
We made it. Barely. Well, enough to sit by the pool again anyways and for me to finally grab some parting pictures before Patrice, then Natalie left a bit earlier than us
Janine and I however had time to take some pictures that made us look like we were at Disney world
Back to Vegas on a girl’s weekend definitely was more tiring then a slow touristy weekend and despite some ducks in our Easter vacation, as Natalie would say we found the “Golden Egg” ahem… Goose for the purposes of my post. One thing I will say is that no matter how long it’s been since I’ve seen these girls, we pick up right where we left off and can pretty much laugh, eat, cry and gossip our way through any weekend.
After all was said and done, it was nice to curl up in my bed. Home sweet – new home.
